At Unit Leader 1, those who attended the Youth Shaped session were introduced to our concept of Consultation Days for young people.
This will be an exciting a chance for young people from all Units to give their opinions and ideas on several key aspects of the UK Contingent’s journey to the World Scout Jamboree.
We believe that allowing young people from different Units to get together will encourage lots of creative thinking and an exchange of ideas around our talking points and help us to be the most youth shaped UK Contingent to a World Scout Jamboree.
Each Unit, depending on their location, has been allocated a number of places for young people. The number varies across the UK, reflecting the number of Units in each Country/Region so that each event has approximately the same number of young people attending.
How you select these young people is up to you and they can be members of either Scouting or Guiding. The young people you select should be confident at giving their opinion, whilst being respectful of others who wish to speak.
Unit Leaders are not required to attend the Consultation Days.
Some of the topics that will feature on the day will be the UK Contingent Food House, UK Contingent Post Event and Kit. Hopefully, your Unit have already had an opportunity to discuss these topics, so the young people that attend from your Unit should also be comfortable to represent the views of others in their Units.
The table below gives the dates, locations and the number of young people from each Unit who are able to attend the event. The deadline to submit details of young people is also shown. Each day will run from 10am – 3.30pm.
