Briefing Weekend 2

Are you coming to Briefing Weekend 2? Please let us know if you are (or not) attending on Eventsforce by Wednesday 12th April

Start: Saturday 6th May 2017 – Registration opens at 09:00 (programme starts at 10:30)

End: Sunday 7th May 2017 – Sessions end at 13:00 (packed lunch provided)

Where: Gilwell Park, Waltham Abbey, London E4 7QW

The contingent will be camping on Essex Chase (as indicated on the below). Registration will be open from 19:00 to 22:00 Friday and 09:00 onwards on Saturday. You will also collect your contingent kit (and anything purchased from Scout Shops) at registration.

Early Arrivals:  You can arrive on Friday evening at a cost of £4.25 camp fees (payable on Eventsforce prior to the weekend – non-refundable), however you will need to provide your own Friday dinner and Saturday breakfast. There are pubs/restaurants/shops in Chingford, 20 minutes walk from Gilwell.

Kit List:  We will be camping at the weekend, so please bring your usual camping kit including tent, mattress, sleeping bag, outdoor clothing etc. We advise that you use the weekend to try out items of kit that you will be taking to Iceland. You do not need a plate or cutlery but you WILL need to bring a mug for tea/coffee/cold drinks. You should also bring pen and paper. There will be a variety of evening entertainment provided by UK contingent members, so please bring some soft drinks and/or snacks to enjoy with friends!

Uniform: Uniform is not required for the weekend. Contingent members will be required to wear their UK international necker to receive lunch (as there are non-UK Contingent members also using the canteen). Neckers and the rest of your kit can be collected at registration.

Kit Collection: If you are unable to attend the weekend, please nominate another member of the contingent to collect your kit on your behalf. This weekend will be your only opportunity to do kit swaps, we will not be facilitating swaps by post if you want to change sizes etc.

Alternative arrangements will be made for those kit not collected at the weekend however this will incur a cost and will not be posted immediately following the weekend.

Forms: If you are required to provide a consent form (under 18s) or Health Form (members of Girlguiding) you can find copies of these on the Moot website here:

Other: The duration of our event (times as detailed above) will be dry, which means that no alcohol is to be consumed at any time. Although The Moot is an 18+ event, some contingent members are still aged 17 at present. Additionally, the consumption and possession of alcohol is banned at Icelandic Scout events (i.e. The Moot) and the organisers of The Moot will escort anyone caught with alcohol straight to the edge of site and leave you there – so this will be good practice!

Timetable:  Coming soon!
